Maharashtra's First Food-Park in Butibori Nagpur



MAIDC in association with MIDC has planned for the State's first Food-Park on a piece of land admeasuring about 75 acres.

It has been approved by Ministry of Food Processing, Government of India and Rs. Four Crores as grant for development of the " Food Park" has been sanctioned by the Ministry. Government of Maharashtra has given Rs 50 Lakhs as grant for the project. Mahindra Acres from Chennai is the architect and technical consultant for the project.

The project consists of common facilities like ware-housing, tetra-packing machine, bottling and canning facilities, cold storage suitable even for fruit juices and pulp in addition to fruits and other agriculture products. It also provides for Office Space, Product Display Facility, Banking, Post Office, Conference Room Facility.

The area has been divided into plots of suitable size to be allotted to the investors on lease basis by MIDC. State Government has recently declared some fiscal benefits for investors in food park. Mr. Amar Pandey, DGM Project of MAIDC and Mr. Mohan Agrawal from VIA are associated with the planning of the project since beginning. The project was prepared in-house by MAIDC and appraised by MSFC Mumbai.

Potential Candidates for investment may be-

  • Fruit exporters, Fruit Juice and Pulp producers and manufacturers of RTS drinks, manufacturers of fruit slices, tit bits in cans using locally available fruits and fruits like pine apple, mangoes etc,

  • Producers of dairy products, spices, pickles makers etc,

New MD of MAIDC Dr. Raj Kumar Zutshi is taking personal interest in the project and is holding workshop for the project on 17th March 2002 at Nagpur, which is likely to be addressed by Minister for Agriculture Government of Maharashtra.
